I was hired by Alphabetti Theatre to create an animated video to go alongside a voice-over performance. The length of the audio came to around 21 minutes and the time-frame in which to do the video was quite short so it was pitched that I should do something like a glorified storyboard, with light animation in the form of pans and zooms.

 

To add visual flair, I created a distinct style of white pencil onto black-paper. The hand-drawn look was to add an unpolished charm to the piece so that it might reflect the young age of the two main characters, Holly and Ivan. The colour palette was restricted to black and white to reflect the timeless feel of the story as well as the winter aesthetic.
